UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell!

ABOUT THESE SEEDS: The RED Madame Jeanette chiles ripen from green to red and have citrus floral flavor tones with some degree of sweetness. The heat level is close to a medium habanero level. The Madame Jeanette chile plants 2 to 3 feet tall and are very productive.
 
Madame Jeanette is a chili pepper cultivar of the species Capsicum chinense, originally from Suriname.
 
RED Madame Jeanette chilis are very hot, rated 125,000–325,000 on the Scoville scale. The peppers ripen to green to red, similar to Scotch Bonnet peppers, but are larger and not symmetrical. Its flavour is described as "fruity", with hints of mango and pineapple. It is often confused with the yellow Adjuma, which is less elongated and said to be spicier but less flavourful. Madame Jeanette is used in almost all facets of Surinamese cuisine. The plant is prolific, has relatively compact growth, dislikes cool sites, and will also grow indoors.
 
Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
