UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell.

ABOUT THESE SEEDS: Gypsy peppers are a sweet pepper variety that are great for frying or eating raw in salads, dips, or vegetable trays. Here is some information about Gypsy peppers:

Appearance: Gypsy peppers are tapered, wedge-shaped fruits that are initially green and ripen to yellow, orange, and red. They have a wide shoulder and a sharp taper.

Flavor: Gypsy peppers have a sweet flavor with no heat, and the flavor intensity increases as the color darkens.

Uses: Gypsy peppers can be used in salads, frying, and more.

Plant characteristics: Gypsy pepper plants are vigorous and resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus. They are annual plants that require full sun, normal water, and no staking.

Growing conditions: Gypsy peppers can be grown in containers and require 18–20 inch garden spacing. They should be planted in enriched garden soil 1-2 weeks after the last frost.

History: Gypsy peppers are a hybrid variety that was developed by crossing an Italian bullhorn pepper and bell pepper. They won the National All-America Selections (AAS) award in 1981.

Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
