UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell.

ABOUT THESE SEEDS: Candy cane peppers are a type of snack pepper with a unique appearance and flavor:

Appearance: Candy cane peppers have variegated foliage and fruit that ripens from green with white stripes to red.

Flavor: Candy cane peppers are sweet and have a crispy texture.

Size: Candy cane peppers can grow to be 3–5 inches long and 1.25–1.75 inches wide.

Uses: Candy cane peppers can be eaten fresh at any stage of ripeness, or used in salads or stuffed with cheese spread.

Growing: Candy cane peppers can be grown in containers or in the ground, with or without support. They can be started indoors in flats, cells, or pots, and then transplanted outside. Sunlight: Candy cane peppers need lots of sunlight or artificial light.

Temperature: Candy cane peppers prefer soil temperatures of 75–85°F for germination. They should be protected from extreme temperature swings. Watering: Water candy cane peppers whenever the potting mix is dry to the touch. Feeding: Feed candy cane peppers regularly with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer.

Candy Cane peppers can have a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of 5,000–30,000, which is considered a medium heat level. The flavor of Candy Cane peppers is similar to Serrano and Cayenne peppers, and is described as fresh and bright

Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
